Warner Brothers influence?
I will also be picking up the Batman/Detective Comcis finale. Going to pick up the Green Lantern in Hard Cover, it reads better imo.
I wonder if Warner Brothers has sent out the "reboot" edict for Batman to have the comic reflect the revived movie franchise? Since the Superman movie sucked, all they had to do was write better stories (thank you Busiek, Johns and Robinson)

Re: Warner Brothers influence?
This is an interesting question, since (coming off a HUGE Dark Knight movie) the Batman comics have been totally impenetrable (to the common movie fan) stories.HipHopHead wrote: I wonder if Warner Brothers has sent out the "reboot" edict for Batman to have the comic reflect the revived movie franchise?
I can only imagine what someone who saw the movie & liked it would think if they happened on the psychedelic "Batman of Zurr-en-Arrh", which is part of the generally convoluted Batman RIP storyline in general with it's really intricate story that I'm going to imagine is really not amenable to the casual fan that wants to pick up a Batman comic because the liked the movie.

I am a big fan of Peter Tomasi, but I don't understand the logic of introducing a super-hero book that is outside of the DCU as a DC book.Unknown Fanboy wrote:THE MIGHTY #1

What looks good to me:
Well, obviously the Neil Gaiman Batman books. I am a HUGE Neil Gaiman fan and I have been looking forward to this since they announced it during the summer.
The Green Lantern and JSA stuff always looks good.
I am not sold on REBELS. I read the first 50 or so issues of the original L.E.G.I.O.N. series when it was coming out. To be honest, I thought they were good stories but not great. I am also shocked that this book came out of nowhere. DC needs to learn how to launch new series. At least have Dox appear in a comic book like Green Lantern Corps before launching this series. I might pre-order the first issue. (I guess this would not look good to me).

Hey, I was listening to the Collected Comics Library podcast and Chris mentioned that the Batman Annuals that they are collecting are reprints of Batman stories. The funny part is that a lot of those stories have already been collected. He said that sometime in December he will do a show about this collection and map these stories to other collected material. So, if you have been collecting the Archives or Chronicles, I would advise to stay away until Chris puts out his show on this.Koete wrote:So cool, it's what you'll find next to "cool" in the dictionary.

Actually, most of the stories in the Annuals have not been reprinted. Most of them come from the 1950's, while the Chronicles and Archives have only reprinted material from the 1940's. A few of them might have shown up in editions such as Batman In The Fifties or Secrets of The Batcave, but for the most part, this is the first time these stories have been reprinted in decades. What Chris was talking about was doing a comparison between the Annuals HC and the Batman In The Fifties TPB.
