Maybe Terry has a point with all those Betty & Veronica titles in his top 10, I may try this one out.....

That one looked kind of interesting to me too. That one might be fun to discuss on the Weekly Comics Spotlight when it comes out.

Nice catsuits. The preview says that Dilton makes them spy gadgets, that should be funny.

I love reading Archie in January, because it's always 65 and sunny in Riverdale (unless the story calls for inclement weather, of course).

B&V Spectacular is the magazinesque format book, so yall might rather just read one of the conventional comic books from the Archie line. Although for people with tween daughters it's perfect.

It's 65 & sunny here where I am in January also, so I guess I'll feel right at home in Riverdale.....

What exactly is the "magazinesque format" of which you speak? Lots of tweenie girl articles interspersed with an occasional short comic story?

You guessed it on the magazinesque format. The main story is followed by fashion tips and ideas for going green or throwing a Halloween party. However, I still buy it because Dan Parent writes and illustrates the story in each issue, and I really enjoy his work. Plus you don't have to worry about it being a dated reprint story about beatniks or something.

And as you can see, his covers are great. The Halloween issue:

How many story pages are there in each issue?

At $2.25 it would still be a better deal in terms of story pages per dollar if it has at least 20 or so story pages.

The story is about half of the book, with the other half pinups, quizzes, etc. etc. It's a nice little change-up in the Archie line, every other book is just a conventional comic.

I've started picking up the Archie and Jughead Double Digests with my last DCBS order. The content for the price can't be beat and I figure they'll be great introductions to comics if I have children down the road.

I have to try not to buy it for looking at Veronica alone...

My wife hates that I buy every movie with Alicia Witt in it so I don't think she'd like me getting that for Ronnie!

I was always a Betty man, and got the chance to meet Parent this past SDCC. He had a bunch of Betty's done up as different heroines, and my wife, bless her, let me pick up a Black Canary sketch from him.

Sounds like you've got a keeper there. Interestingly, Parent is on the record as preferring Veronica. I guess you have to come to cons ready for what the fans want, though.
