by BobBretall
Previews is coming out on Feb 29th (Leap Year, yay!). Previews call will be on Friday Mar 9th at 5pm Pacific / 6pm Mountain / 7pm Central / 8pm Eastern.
Submissions for the Previews Spotlight #053 show should be in by Saturday Morning, 8am pacific time, Saturday Mar 10th.
As always, get on Skype around the start time (or join any time after, the call can run 4 hours of rousing comics chat) and look for thejohnmayo OR BobBretall & message to get joined into the call.
Of course you can start sending in submissions as soon as you have them done. Sending them in early is appreciated as it give us more time to organize the clips and plan out the episode.
Discuss any of the new comics AND call dibs on reviewing any particular comic on this thread.
Remember: We encourage anyone to send in a short audio clip where they can talk about any book that's coming out in the upcoming Previews that they are really excited about. The email address to send the clips to is
TheGuys@ComicBookPage.com. (Some people were only send them to either just John or just Bob and we both need to get them to prepare to recording the episode. By using TheGuys email address, the email goes to both Bob and John.)
PLEASE: Each featured item should be in a separate audio file.
We would also appreciate it if you put the page number followed by the full name of the item in the filename. If you don't know the page number, that is fine. Just leave it off. But having the full name of the item the clip is for makes it much easier for us to organize the files and prepare for recording the episode.
Tips on how to record a clip can be found
here.

Here's my Marvel "buy list" for May (12 comics, 7 titles):
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #685 + #686
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN ANNUAL #39
CAPTAIN AMERICA #11 + #12
DAREDEVIL #12 + #13
FANTASTIC FOUR #606
FURY MAX #1 & #2
THUNDERBOLTS #174
WINTER SOLDIER #5
On the fence about buying:
AVENGERS ACADEMY #29 + 30 (Note: Both issues tie-in to AVENGERS VS. X-MEN, this is my last Avengers title, and this crossover could be my ticket out. It's much like X-Facotr, that I held onto for a long time until they pulled that into one X-Men crossover too many.)
FANTASTIC FOUR #605.1
SECRET SERVICE #2 (have to read #1 before I order more)
SUPERCROOKS #3 (have to read #1 before I order more)

Here's my Dark Horse "buy list" for May (7 comics, 4 HC/TPs):
DARK HORSE PRESENTS #12
GROO VS. CONAN #2
LOBSTER JOHNSON: THE BURNING HAND #5 (of 5)
MIND MGMT #1
ORCHID #7
RESET #2 (of 4)
SKELETON KEY COLOR SPECIAL
Hardcovers / TPs:
BLACKSAD: A SILENT HELL HC
HELLBOY LIBRARY EDITION VOLUME 5 HC
MIKE NORTON’S BATTLEPUG VOLUME 1 HC
USAGI YOJIMBO VOLUME 26: TRAITORS OF THE EARTH TP
Items of note for May:
* I'm going to stop getting BPRD comics & just get collected editions. They really burned me out on these with the practice of running multiple parallel minis each month. I like BPRD at about the 1 comic per month level. Hitting me with 2 BPRD minis + Lobster Johnson is too much.
* CONAN THE BARBARIAN #4 - It's interesting that Becky Cloonan didn't make it past issue #3. I'm not sure if she's off for good or just for a story arc. I'll check out the new artist in the LCS when #4 hits the stands.

I agree with you on the Fantastic Four #605.1 being on the fence. I am not sure about reading a story about their origin. The timing of this book is not so good since they just released a hardcover retelling their origin. I will pick up Amazing Spider-man but not the annual. I don't need to read another team-up story of Spider-man and the Avengers by a guest creative team.

I hear you on ASM Annual. I'd skip it if I didn't have all 38 previous annuals. I think ASM is the ONLY comic I have that I'm interested in "keeping the run intact" for any more.

Items of Note:
** DC's cancelling of 6 low selling titles, of which I was getting zero, and launching 6 new titles, of which I will try 5, is causing my "DCU buy" to increase by 4 this month.
THE RAVAGERS #1 - I'm not a big fan of the old Wildstorm stuff. When Fairchild was just a featured character in Superboy, that was fine. Pulling her out into what looks like a re-launch of Gen-13 is a good way to get me to decide to skip this.
"THE CULLING" - It looks like DC is trying to link Teen Titans & Superboy together into a "teen-iverse" of titles that includes the Gen 13-ish Ravagers and the Legion Lost characters. I'm going to drop all of these titles (which means I won't be getting SUPERBOY #9, TEEN TITANS #9, or TEEN TITANS ANNUAL #1). I would have gotten all 3 of these if not for the crossover.
BIRDS OF PREY #9 - I'll be dropping this with the arrival of Travel Foreman as artist. I think he's a huge stylistic mismatch for this book.
SUICIDE SQUAD #9 - I have some room on my list since I'm dropping the books in "THE CULLING". I'll try Suicide Squad, since it leads into Res Man & is by the same artist......a nice touch.
BATMAN: EARTH ONE HC - I will pre-order this if the discount is high enough. 50% or more and I'll get it without a second thought.

Good point. I forgot about your run on Amazing Spider-man.
Santulouco's art style is very similar to Rafael Albuquerque. In fact, they are friends and studio mates. They did a creator owned book together from Oni Press called “Mondo Urbano" and he drew issue #10 of American Vampire. So if you like Albuquerque's art, you will like Santulouco's art.

Here's my IDW "buy list" for May (4 comics, 2 HCs):
FRANKENSTEIN, ALIVE, ALIVE! #1 (Bernie Wrightson art, how can I say "No"?)
MEMORIAL #6 (of 6)
NEXT MEN AFTERMATH #43
ROCKETEER ADVENTURES 2 #3 (of 4)
STAR TREK TNG/DOCTOR WHO: ASSIMILATION2 #1 (I like both properties, but the real selling point is JK Woodward on art, he's a favorite of mine.)
TRIO #1
DAVID MAZZUCCHELLI'S DAREDEVIL BORN AGAIN: ARTIST'S EDITION
DOUG WILDEY'S RIO: THE COMPLETE SAGA HC

Obviously, clearly, there is one book coming out in May that I have been looking forward to for a long, long time.
X-O Manowar #1.
You'll have an enthusiastic submission for the previews episode on this book from me.

Mind the Gap is a book I'm really looking forward to. Rodin's art for Morning Glories covers is phenomenal so it will be great having him work interior as well. The pages shown in the above link look great, and the story sounds good too.

Sent in a clip. Hope it works. I sound even more doltish than normal so if someone sends in a clip for the same book, use that one. I popped every damn "P." Thanks guys.

What book did you send a submission for?
