I know the Green Lantern franchise is doing good for DC, but do they really need to beat it into the ground with a lot of new series?
I don't see a Red Lantern series being necessary. I guess I would have preferred they did a "Tales of the Corps" series that tells stories of all the different non-Green Lanterns instead of coming up with one in just the Red Lanterns.
Another part of this is that Atrocitus is not even in my top 5 of the new Lanterns that have been introduced.
I'll get the #1 (assuming it's 50% off from DCBS), but I don;t think I'll pre-order beyond that until I read #1.
Is Red the New Green? New Red Lantern series.....

This has the redeeming feature of at least being a different Corps than the Green Lantern Corps. So while it is in that corner of the DC Universe, it isn't as redundant of a title as Green Lantern Corps and Green Lantern: Emerald Warriors. Granted, it isn't all that much less redundant either.
Launching this before a third Green Lantern series would have made more sense. It is also possible that the War of the Green Lanterns could result in Guy becoming a Red Lantern and staring in that book with Emerald Warriors focusing on Kyle and/or John.
I agree that a Tales of the Corps series covering all of the other Corps would have been a smarter move. Particularly if they did it as a double size issue each month with multiple creative teams on it That would give them the room to showcase multiple Corps in each issue.

I agree that yet another Lantern title in general may not be needed and probably not a Red Lantern one in specific. But the Green Lantern franchise has supported multiple concurrent titles in the past (Green Lantern, Green Lantern: Mosiac and Guy Gardner: Warrior) so maybe there is more of a market for this stuff than I give it credit for.mguy1977 wrote:No they don't need a red lantern corps book, but they want to milk the Lantern teat as long as they can. My guess is one or two lantern books not named GL or GLC will be gone by the time GL the movie hits the DVD shelf or when the Lantern war event ends.
