It was raining outside so I reviewed my "to read" pile. I don't think I could get through this lot in 2011 even if I didn't buy another book. Happy new year everyone :D

I've got the Y: The Last Man in the hardcovers, not the trades. At some point I'll read those.

The Sword is excellent and one I'd suggested moving to the front of the reading list.

I have that new Usagi Yojimbo hardcover set. Damn that thing is heavy.

Are you missing one of the 52 trades or have you already read it? Also, you might want to consider reading the World War III trade around issue 50 of 52.

All in all, an impressive list of books. Enjoy reading them.

I almost bought those judge dredd trades at San Diego last year, but they were out of the first one do I passed. Interested in what you think.

I am afraid I am a little biased on the 2000AD stuff. I grew up reading 2000AD and it has special significance to me. I think it is really aimed at British readers too. For what it is worth here is my thoughts on the first Dredd Collection:

Nice set of stuff.

Top 3 on the stack (my recommendation) would be:

The Sword

Usagi Yojimbo

Y: The Last Man

Umbrella Academy and Locke and Key would top my list. One is just so decidedly different it's fun and the other has drool-worthy artwork.

Still, looks like your 2011 has PLENTY of good reading ahead of it!

I've had Chew in my too read pile for awhile now. And yesterday I got thru 1-16 and loved it. But your stack is pretty impressive. I too suggest moving Sword up to the top, such a fun read.

(Sorry for the blur, I couldn't get decent light to take the pic - the X-Mas tree in the living room is the culprit since it is blocking everything.)

Books on the current top of the stack:

The mammoth (1280 page) Kiss Kompendium
Umbrella Academy: Dallas
Superman: Earth One (finally came in my DCBS box today after a screw up)
and a couple of Valiant TPBs:
Solar: Second Death
Magnus, Robot Fighter: Steel Nation
Magnus, Robot Fighter: Invasion
(I stopped reading comics for a few years around 1991; picked these up recently on the cheap to see what the fuss was all about.

I would be all over those Charley's War books. They keep rolling those out, so if you like the first 3, you know you have more coming. If you do get to them, post if you like them or not.

The Sword also is a really nice page turner. You will go through that in record time. I was surprised how fast it read.
