Previews Spotlight #039 (Jan ->Mar): Fri Jan 7th: 5pm pac
The new Previews should hit the stands Thu Dec 30th, so the call will be Friday Jan 7th at 5pm Pacific / 6pm Mountain / 7pm Central / 8pm Eastern.
As always, get on Skype around the start time (or join any time after, the call can run 4 hours of rousing comics chat) and look for thejohnmayo message him to get joined into the call.
Submissions for the Previews Spotlight #039 show should be in by the end of Friday Jan 7th.
Of course you can start sending in submissions as soon as you have them done. Sending them in early is appreciated as it give us more time to organize the clips and plan out the episode.
Remember: We encourage anyone to send in a short audio clip where they can talk about any book that's coming out in the upcoming Previews that they are really excited about. The email address to send the clips to is TheGuys@ComicBookPage.com. (Some people were only send them to either just John or just Bob and we both need to get them to prepare to recording the episode. By using TheGuys email address, the email goes to both Bob and John.)
PLEASE: Each featured item should be in a separate audio file.
We would also appreciate it if you put the page number followed by the full name of the item in the filename. If you don't know the page number, that is fine. Just leave it off. But having the full name of the item the clip is for makes it much easier for us to organize the files and prepare for recording the episode.
Tips on how to record a clip can be found here.

I'm liking the Godzilla book from the IDW solicits:
http://www.newsarama.com/comics/idw-mar ... 01221.html
I also think I'm going to check out the radio show recordings of Doc Savage from Moonstone:

GODZILLA: MONSTER WORLD #1
Eric Powell & Tracy Marsh (w) • Phil Hester (a) • Eric Powell, Alex Ross (c)
The King of the Monsters rises again, and for the first time in comics, he’s bringing lots of other beloved Toho monsters with him in one destructive saga, and The Goon’s Eric Powell is sounding the alarm. Powell will also paint covers for each issue of this new ongoing series, including a wraparound cover to kick things off!
I also think I'm going to check out the radio show recordings of Doc Savage from Moonstone:
http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/ ... emarch.htm
THE ADVENTURES OF DOC SAVAGE: THE LEGENDARY RADIO SERIES
First heard over National Public Radio, this brand new eight-CD collection presents two complete classic Doc Savage stories, fully dramatized. This first commercial release of this impressive thirteen-episode series - features two exciting multi-part adventures: "Fear Cay", an action-packed adventure in which they pursue the Fountain of Youth Gang to a remote Caribbean island full of booby traps and intrigue. Then, Doc and his team are enmeshed in the atmospheric six-part lost-city thriller, "The Thousand-Headed Man", where they seek a lost expedition in the jungles of Indochina and an ancient treasure guarded by the fantastic Thousand Headed Man.
Also included is a brand new documentary, "The Sound of Bronze: Making 'The Adventures of Doc Savage'", featuring interviews, anecdotes from the cast and crew, and never before revealed details of how the series was conceived and created.

Here's the Marvel stuff that looks cool!

I might sit this event out, like I did w/Chaos War. Depends on how deeply DCBS discounts this Prologue.

They said in the press conference that the #1 was going to be "extra sized" for $3.99, that didn't stop them doing a prologue that's normal 22-page story for $3.99. Seems like a Cap-oriented story w/Brubaker writing & the Red Skull stuff.....FEAR ITSELF: PROLOGUE
Written by ED BRUBAKER
Pencils by SCOT EATON
All the Red Skull's terrible secrets and plans are in the hands of his evil daughter, Sin, who's intent on outdoing her father... Now find out about the Skull's most-dangerous World War II mission, that he risked everything for...and how it's going to tear the Marvel Universe apart today. FEAR ITSELF starts here...in the darkest secrets of the past!
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

Moonstone's THE AVENGER: THE JUSTICE INC. FILES might be interesting but from the description, I can't tell if this is a narrative, text with illustrations, or graphic novel. Given the page count I suspect text w/illustrations mixed in. Hopefully the previews solicit will be a bit more illuminating.

Gents,
If I can, I'd like to take 'dibs' on the following comics (and I'll try and have something recorded by early next week).
Green Lantern / Green Lantern Corps / Emerald Warriors -- WAR OF THE GREEN LANTERNS!
CREEPY (from Darkhorse)
GI JOE Infestation (IDW)
Hellraiser (from Boom! Studios)
Thor 620.1
Annihilators
FF #1
Unncanny X-Force 5.1
And Bob, thanks for the links to the CBR stuff, as the Marvel site doesn't seem to have their solicits since their 'reboot' and I didn't have my previews last month (nor this month) prior to the recording, but your links make it so I don't really need one.
Thanks again for the great podcast gents!

Since the DCBS order form isn't available yet, I've tossed together a place holder form: 2011-01-ComicBookPage.xls
There is a VBA macro in it that can be used to fill out the DCBS form once it is available.
To use it, open up both this file and the DCBS order form. Enter in the filename of the DCBS order form in cell A4 (which is currently set to January2011.xls which should be the name DCBS uses for the file) and run the UpdateDcbsOrderForm macro.
You will need to have VBA macros enabled in the 2011-01-ComicBookPage.xls for this to work.
The code is nothing fancy and was something I quickly tossed together last month for my own use:

Cool. I've already gotten mine updated from the makeshift one I'd put together myself.BobBretall wrote:I stand corrected. And if anybody cares, the line in the VBA macro to populate the DCBS file from the one I'd put together that read:
Code: Select all
For plSourceRow = 35 To Me.UsedRange.Rows.Count
Code: Select all
For plSourceRow = 4 To Me.UsedRange.Rows.Count
