Thoughts around reducing the monthly pull list

I've been back into comics again now for about two years and have been collecting approximately 20 current titles plus trades.
I've got myself about half convinced to drop that down to say 10 titles I'm enjoying and spend the rest of my budget on back issues and trades.
Like a lot of people here I really enjoy going back to fill in gaps on my favorite runs and tryout other titles I had an intrest in but just not the money when collecting as a kid.
I don't need them to be pristine copies, just intact and with online shops issues are easy to run down and are at least the same price as current issues if not cheaper. Plus with the exception of a few hard to find titles I don't have to wait for creators to get around to finishing their projects.
There have been so many good titles and stories told over the years that I'm not sure I'd ever run out of things to read and if something current turns out to be great I can always go back and pick it up, probally cheaper than cover price.
My only regret is that I won't be supporting current comic products hot off the shelves, but it's the companies job to make that regret a realization.

My latest cuts:

* Simon Dark (even TimR has stopped getting this one)
I just got, but haven't read yet, the 1st Simon Dark TPB. Has the series had a substantial downflow in quality since the initial books?

Seems to have lost focus a bit after the 1st arc. Maybe it will read better in trade. Kind of *meh* as a monthly book. It's always at the bottom of my "to read" stack, which is a dangerous place to be when I get in a cutting-books mood.....
Read the 1st arc recently. Thought it was decent, but not superb. So kind of on the fence about continuing. How have the latest issues been looking?
