I love Jennifer Blood so far, #1 and 2 were great.
Yeah, I really enjoyed #1. I'm still waiting for my copy of #2, but a very nice start. I was a little surprised that I liked it so much, as it seemed to be getting lukewarm reviews but maybe because it's Ennis and the standards are so high. I know he's billing this as his "just having fun" comic, but I'm sure there will be some really interesting twists along the way.
I'm waaay behind on my reading, but I just read a book that I loved - Zatanna #9. This was actually split between the puppet story and a new story by Adam Beechen and Jamal Igle featuring a young (pre-teens) Zatanna. It was yet another Dini comic where he didn't have enough time to deliver a complete issue, but I'm not complaining. His part was well done and nicely drawn by Cliff Chiang, and the second story was a nice look at Zee's youth, especially since her father's (spirit) been such a big part of the series. And Igle's pencils were amazing as always. I can't wait until he begins his regular run. This book has gone through its share of art changes, but to DC's credit, everyone has done a topnotch job.

The negative review I read mentioned that it was same old Ennis and they were tired of him, they gave #2 a 4.5 out of 10. I think that's terrible to bash a comic because you were expecting someone to do something different when they've never set out to do that.
I don't watch a Friday the 13th film and say "Oh crap, people are getting killed again, same ole thing, I'll give this movie an F".

I agree. BUT, that said, when people get a certain expectation in their head (I've done this myself) it does affect how you feel about a book (or movie).

True, I just don't know why they were expecting something different from an Ennis book. I've only been back into comics for 8 months or so and after reading Crossed and The Boys, I knew what I was getting with Jennifer Blood. I do see how reading too much Ennis at once can get tiring, but that's my fault for having to catch up on The Boys and reading 46 issues in 2 weeks or so.
Wolverine Weapon X 6-9 insane in the membrane storyline was amazing and in my opinion one of the best Wolverine stories. Aaron and Paqette. Dr. Rot one of the creepiest villains in awhile
Legion of Super-villains #1 Man Saturn Queen is a threat and wait till you see what she is after.
Amazing Spider-man 657 - A Fantastic 4 issue where Pete and the team remember Johnny. Tear jerker. I loved this issue and the different art teams were fantastic. (5/5)
Xombi #1 - I really enjoyed this issue from start to finish. I did not read the original series but I did read Brave and the Bold #26 which featured Xombi and the Spectre and I really enjoyed that so that is why I gave this book a shot. I thought it was a 5/5.
Brightest Day #22 I really love Firestorm and I hope he will get a mini or ongoing like Aquaman coming out of Brightest Day. This was a really solid issue.
Short-Stack Tales of the Super-human Plumber #3. I love this series and it has one of the most unique art sytles in comics that can be jarring to some but one you read this story written by Sternitzky brothers you will dig it. In issue 3 Short Stacks life begins to crumble around him. Wolverine 5.1 - While not a great jumping on point it sure is one hell of a read so I will judge it on my enjoyment factor.
This is a very enjoyable ride. The book has a quick pace, and the artwork is unobtrusive, meaning, it isn't so detailed that it slows the intended fast pace of the book. This is not a criticism, but a compliment. Each issue leaves wondering what will happen or where I will be taken, but I have confidence that the creators know where the tale will lead so I am not confused and left with too many questions. Great, great read thus far.
The Sixth Gun #11 - Oni Press
Great mythos in an old West setting. Louisiana, New Orleans doesn't hold back her spiritual side as Hurtt and Bunn are at their best. Beautiful coloring. Exquisite detail and bedlam without it becoming a distraction but rather adding character to the title. No major surprises, but the execution is so effective that the reader needs to admire the craft. Plus, a nice lead into the next story arc, making me want to continue. Consistently a top of the stack read.
Mystery Society #1-5 - Man I really dug every aspect of this adventure filled with conspiracy theories. Niles wrote one hell of an adventure and Fiona's pencils were amazing. If you have not checked it out I urge you to. (5/5)
Avengers Academy #13. 5/5. Just a great mix of character development and humor spread out over three teams of young heroes. There are nice little moments at the sides of panels away from the main dialog which are a hoot. This felt like one of those old X-Men playing baseball issues. Christopher Gage is one of the best writers in the business right now.
Critical Millennium: The Dark Frontier #1 from Archaia was off the hook good Sci-Fi Goodness. I picked up this book at Supershow 2011 this year and was so glad I purchased this tale of Space Exploration in the vein of Star Trek except that humanity is not doing it for good but for really bad intentions. Loved this book. (5/5)

I'm curious about what prompted you to finally pick this up now.

Flashpoint #1 Man was this a great start to an event. Every page I turned I was thinking "oh man this is so cool". Loved the story and the art and am really interested in all of the other titles to see how this new timeline or world lays out. Great start and I am now really looking forward to next month as the slam us with so many titles which I will sit and read in one shot because I am so interested.
Critical Millennium The Dark Frontier #2 - This is one of the best Sci-Fi comics I have read in my entire comic book reading life. The only bad side to this is that it is only 4 issues and I know I am going to want more.
