I've got all the Image issues of Hack/Slash in my "get around to reading these" pile, so I've never read these backups. I'll try to get caught up when I'm on vacation next week.abysslord wrote: Btw Bob, this #0 will just reprint all the Hoax Hunter back-up stories that ran in Hack/Slash for awhile, did you read those? I skipped them after awhile because only reading 1-2 pages per month didn't work for me. But all of them in one issue, maybe it will read better for me.

I'm not going to have a chance to do any interviews this week. I just turned in my 2 weeks notice & accepted a new job that I start on the 18th. As a result, I've got a lot of wrap-up work & job transition stuff to do.Lord Shaper wrote: Also for the Howard Lovecraft let me know if you need an intro with Dwight if he can do an interview
That said, if you have an opportunity to record something with Dwight, we'd love to run it.

Yeah I had to buy PowerGramo to go along with Skype. I'm not sure what Amber uses to record, you might ask her,Lord Shaper wrote: I'll have to see if I can get some recording software hehehe...

I'll be getting a new phone, not sure yet if it's a BB. If it is, I'll re-join the group.

OK, I was talked out of dropping I, Vampire over e-mail..... I'll keep getting it & will give the crossover a chance.BobBretall wrote:I'm going to be dropping my 1st book from the New52, just on general principles:
I do not get JL: Dark
I do get I, Vampire
JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK #7
Straight off the shocking events of last month’s I, VAMPIRE #6, vampires across the world have gone berserk, attacking anyone and everyone with a pulse. Fearing her apocalyptic vision of the future has come to pass, Madame Xanadu mobilizes the team to intervene. But everything the JL Dark members know about how to slay a vampire is useless, for the world has changed. It’s a crossover that had to be, continuing into this month’s I, VAMPIRE #7!Sorry, DC. I'm not going to get forced into getting JL Dark to read the I, Vampire story. I'm sorry that this attempt to increase circulation is going to cause me to drop the book. I hope more people jump on than jump off for Josh Fialkov's sake, he's a great guy, but I'm voting against this kind of marketing gimmick with my wallet.I, VAMPIRE #7
Straight off the shocking events of last issue and continuing the story from this month’s JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK #7, Andrew Bennett finds himself in a place he never thought he’d reach during his countless decades walking the Earth. But his absence on Earth signals a deadly loss of order in the vampire hierarchy, as the savage attack on humanity he’s long feared looks like its coming to pass.
I, Vampire #6, the end of the 1st story arc, will be my last issue of that title.
The best way to get me to drop more DC titles is to cross the stories over like this between something I am getting and something I'm not getting. I will guaranteed drop a title every time DC does this.
As we talked on the Friday's call, if this is a major crossover, I would think this would be a problem, especially so early. However, if it is a minor crossover ( 1 or even 2 issues), then I have a different opinion.BobBretall wrote:

At the end of the day, the new 52 is a shared universe, so there should be some minor overlap and perhaps a crossover or two. That said, it should be minor and not major so early in the new 52. The end of Stormwatch #5 apparently will have an impact on Superman #6, but I hope that you don't have to read Stormwatch #5 to enjoy Superman #6. Prior to the massive events in the 80s, 90s, and now, it was common for events in one book to impact other books but it wasn't done in way to force people to buy other titles but passively entice people to purchase the other books. I think there isn't a problem if the new 52 has a similar strategy.
I look at it like this - AMAZING SPIDER-MAN and DAREDEVIL are having a crossover. The Amazing issue is part one. I don't read Amazing (I have issues with Slott's writing I won't go into here) and I have no plans to start.
I will pick up my usual Daredevil issue, read the forward, that will explain briefly what has transpired in the issue I missed and either get me up to speed, fail miserably in getting me up to speed or have me questioning my ability to get up to speed and I will move on to the next issue. I will regard this crossover as a blip in an otherwise great book and never look back.
I use to love the crossovers when I was younger and I would now as well, if Marvel was not putting out 90 some titles a month and double shipping what seems like half of them.
Bah, I can feel a rant rising that is totally off of topic, so I shall leave now ..

I'm sorry
Guys,
I'm sorry but I ended up pulling the Daredevil issue that crosses over with Spider-Man. Even worse, I've decided to use it as the point where I start collecting Daredevil. This action only encourages Marvel to continue crossovers. To be fair to myself I'm only continuing Daredevil because it's one of those titles everyone says is fantastic. If it wasn't so widely acclaimed I would probably get just the issue that crosses over with Spidey and be done with it. So maybe Marvel should be applauded - they're bringing attention to a book with lower sales that is widely loved by critics and fans alike, by crossing it over with a book that has better sales.
Additionally I'll probably get every Avengers issue that ties to X-Sanction, X-Men Vs. Avengers, or whatever it's called. I don't collect any Avengers titles currently, but do collect every X-Title. So I'll also be encouraging them to do more events. It's like giving your dog a biscuit when he poos inside. Well, not exactly, but you know what I mean.
I won't be collecting Stormwatch #5 even if it does impact Superman #6. Superman is in the top five or ten New DC titles for me, but Stormwatch is one of the bottom five. So maybe that balances out my other transgressions?

I weakened also & ordered the JL Dark that crosses over with I, Vampire....same essential thing.boshuda wrote:Guys,

Me too. I suppose there's something there could do to get me to buy Stormwatch (maybe by putting Gary Frank or George Perez on art), but a simple crossover with Superman is not going to do it.boshuda wrote: I won't be collecting Stormwatch #5 even if it does impact Superman #6.
