Here's where we can agree to disagree.
My opinion is that it's being done out of fear for negative publicity, not as a result of any sensitivity.
Of course they are doing it to avoid negative publicity. DC seems to have managed to stay out of the stories about the shooting as far as I can tell. They probably what to keep it that way. That does not eliminate the possibility they are also trying to be sensitive. Regardless of why they delayed the issue, it was the right business decision.

From today's Diamond Daily:
DC’s Batman, Incorporated #3 to Go on Sale on August 22
Retailers, the August 22 on sale date for all versions of Batman, Incorporated #3 is today, which means this issue may be put on display and sold.
This item will appear on your August 29 invoices.
Because of the change in on sale dates, Batman, Incorporated #3 will be made returnable. Returnability will be announced in the September 4 Diamond Dateline and will continue through September 28.
As a reminder, here are the adjusted on-sale dates for upcoming issues of Batman, Incorporated:
• Batman, Incorporated #0 (JUL120150D) will keep its current on-sale date of September 26.
• Batman, Incorporated #4 (JUN120173D) has a new on-sale date of October 24.
Because of this change, this issue will be made returnable at a later date.
• Batman, Incorporated #5 (AUG12 0176D) will be resolicited in the September PREVIEWS for November on sale. All current orders placed under this item code are cancelled.
I'm curious what, if anything, is being done with retailers that already sold copies.

By DC/Diamond? I'm guessing nothing.
Hopefully customers who paid elevated prices to get the book last month will notice they got hosed now that the exact same book is on sale for cover price....
Maybe these people will re-think shopping at the stores who took advantage of a tragedy to make a quick buck.

Did people actually pay a premium to get this book early? Something PT Barnum is often quoted as saying comes to mind.

There were reports of some retailers ignoring the "hold" that was requested on the book & putting it up for sale last month for $5.

They were also going for $30 on eBay at the time, too.

I searched the sales history of this book on Ebay. I did see one person pay $30. There were maybe dozens that paid between $5 and $10. Many of the listings were for the variants.

Was it on your packing list & not in your box?
It's not on my packing list from last week, though my LCS had it on the rack. I sent DCBS an e-mail.

It wasn't on my packing list but this was the week it was supposed to be on sale.

Looks like DCBS didn't notice that they were supposed to ship last week...... I got a response back from them:

I got my copy of Batman Incorporated #3 in my 2012-08-29 shipment.
I think what threw DCBS is that the issue never appeared on the shipping lists from Diamond.

I read Batman Incorporated #3. If DC didn't say anything about the book, I probably wouldn't have noticed the panel in question. Do I think DC overreacted after read the book? I think so. That said, it is very easy to be paranoid about how someone (especially with the internet) could look at that one panel.
I did enjoy the book a lot.

I agree with you. 2 panels of someone holding a gun in a classroom & no actual shooting.
I was expecting something MUCH worse based on all the hoo-hah over the issue.
I wish DC would be similarly dismayed that people being stabbed through the chest or having their arms ripped off would cause a media stir.....
