Golden Age archive recommendations

Post by Perseus »

Hey everyone. I'm looking to get some Golden Age archives at some point, and I was wondering if anyone had a favorite collection. It doesn't matter if its Marvel, DC, etc. Just wanting to see what are people's favorites out there. Thanks everyone! These will also be considered as recommendations for me. I appreciate any feedback.

Personally, I'm not a very big fan of the Golden Age Marvel stuff. For Golden Age, I'm strictly a DC fan.

My favorite DC Gold are the All-Star Archives.

I also like the Golden Age Flash, Green lantern, & Doctor Fate.

I dig the Golden Age Starman Archive. At this point, there's only one volume and the second volume comes out in June. It's great sci-fi adventure with awesome Jack Burnley art. I can't wait to get that second volume and see the Mort Meskin art.

Most of the Golden Age stories are not great reads and many have rather crude art. The appeal for me is the historical aspect of a character. Perhaps pick a favorite character that was around in the Golden Age and discover their early adventures?

But there are a few that buck the crude art trend and the Golden Age Starman Archive is at the top of the list.
