Surprised and not surprised to hear that. I don't remember reading about it in the comic? But I haven't seen any further solicits that i recall. Story haven't been going anywhere for a lot of issues so not crying a river... Ill remember to pick this last one up though.

LazarusRizen #4
Monstress #27

apparently distribution to sweden have to go through extra channels with the limits on flights and borders so if this is the final week before a hopefully brief pause in shipments my wallet don't mind not paying an extra 6% due to extra costs in shipping and currency fluctuations

Since no new releases...

I read the latest Lucifer issue yesterday and I´m now really enjoying it. Both Lucifer and the Dreaming titles together form a really nice story blending all sorts of mythologies in a big pot of weird stuff. Even if individual issues sometimes seem strange and out of order most often those are the ones that really stick out as great separate reads. Hope to see them continue on the other side of these quarantined times, the Dreaming gets a new volume so remember to check it out.

So yesterday I read Maruaders #5 through #9 (my lcs had a delay delivery on issue 5 or 6 during new years i think) and it was a really nice read, some action, some drama and much pain for a longtime xmenreaders. The plot is going in a few different directions but we are left with quite a heavy cliffhanger until the word starts spinning again...

Last Thursday, April 9, I got the following in the mail from Dragon's Lair.
They are:

X-Men: The Fall Of The Mutants (TP)
The Mighty Thor Epic Collection: Into The Dark Nebula (TP)
Batman: Damned (HC)

I ordered some trades from Dragon's Lair for this week. It should come in the mail in the next couple of days.

Again, I'm doing this to continue to support my LCS during these times.

And If you guys can afford to, please continue to support your LCS during these times.

Aloha!

No new comics but its hard to break the habit of talking to the guys at my local comics shop in Uppsala, Sweden (seriezonen.nu) so i was by yesterday and got a few older collections of miniseries.
Doom - the emperor returns
Marvel Boy by Grant Morrisson
Elektra the Hand
at least Marvel boy should be good but ill see when i get a chance to read them.

Last week I had some time home due to (possibly not) the common cold (who knows...), and had time to read through four issues of AWA Upshot Now. The first issue of the Resistance had time to come out before the diamond shutdown and I liked it, uncertain if the covid-19 pandemic increased interest/fascination or not but it certainly hit hard and close to a real world issue on a scary timing. In the Upshot Now issues 1-4 there are previews and whole issues of some of AWA:s new titles in black and white. The high points for me as follow:

*The Resistance #1-4 is the main draw unsurprisingly, issues 2 and 3 show some of the emerging powered individuals and the political effect of such powers among the public and then #4 again deals with a pandemic spread that is scary to think about and probably close to what we have just seen happening from China to Italy to a world stand still, chills me to the bone but also imo the point of any form of culture to in someway affect its beholder.

*Archangel 8, is also good, reading it in black and white fits very well. The setting is similar to the tv-Lucifer with possibly inhuman characters (any supernatural issues are still to be clearly shown) with disagreements to battle out but do so in the form of militaristic violence with a villainous drug cartel caught in the cross-fire.

*Year Zero, I skipped out on the walking dead :-) but this seems like a decent zombie title. Also this world has been hit with a pandemic but as far as I came in the story it seem to be unrelated to the Resistance story.

*Devil's Highway, only the first issue but this could be a very nice crime/mystery mini.

Tried to keep it as short as possible and along the lines of solicited synopsises hopefully spoiler free? Where did the spoiler markings go? :-)

Surprise!
no new comics this week
.
.
.

Next Surprise!
I still have back issues to read :-)

This time i wanted to share reading Monstress #25-#27. Damn this series is really good. Compared to other image titles i dont have any problem getting into it after saving up a few titles for a few month. The back of the front page has an excellent recap and important characters get a short introduction. Compared to Birthright an wicdiv this one isn't slowing down yet.

It was really awesome to see Maika come to terms with her horrific nature and actually use the Monstrum instead of just blacking out and wake up to a scene of victims.

One complaint about the art is that its kind of difficult to distinguish who is who among some of the arcanic characters that dont have facial markers (animal heads), especially if there are more on the same scene and you only see faces.

More frequent issues of Monstress and Lazarus could probably get image going a lot better after the pandemic. Both are soo good!
