Previews Spotlight #132 (October) Deadline: Sat AM, Sep 8

Post by JohnMayo »

We are going to do something different for the October Previews Spotlight.

For this month only, we are going with a different format. Instead of sending in a clip for each issue you want to spotlight, send in a single clip answering the question "what current titles should people be reading and why?"

Recommend as many titles as you want but do it in a single clip.

No need to get Previews.
No need to find a good jumping on point for the title.
No need to find the page number the item is on.
No excuse not to send in a clip.

Just go through the titles you read and pick a few and sell the rest of us on getting those titles.

Name the clip "October-YourName". The clips will played be in the order received.

Don't post the titles you pick here on the forum or on the slack channel. Let them be a surprise for the listeners.

The deadline is the crack of dawn on Saturday, September 8th. If you can get it in early that would be appreciated.

The episode will be released on October 10th.

We will go back to the regular format with the November Previews Spotlight.

I'm curious if there is a time limit for these clips. I know that when I try to send something longer than say...20 minutes...the message won't go through. I think I'll try to limit myself to about 10 minutes.

Great question. There is no hard explicit time limit but keep in mind other people are sending in clips and if everybody goes for 15 or 20 minutes, it will be a really long episode.

Here is a Dropbox link you can use to send in files for October: https://www.dropbox.com/request/PB92N4ZgHTZ1J7sGNuTz

And here is a link for submitting clips for September: https://www.dropbox.com/request/1lR2wkDv5xrWXN16hdOK

I'll be submitting a clip.

(I'm joking on this part.) My clip will be two hours long giving the history of the character, number of volumes the series went through, back ground on all the creators that did this series, and sales figures for each volume.
LOL!

Seriously, mine would be about five to ten minutes.

John, I think this is a great way for us to share with others why we love certain series.

I'm about to record my September picks, then I'll do a segment for the October Spotlight.

Nice to hear from everyone in the October clips! It was fun to hear everyone's different take on the submission guidelines. We got indy hits, best of all time clips, top 10's, and just plain old favorites. For the special circumstances this month, I enjoyed hearing you all elaborate on why you are enjoying each of the series you mentioned.
I read comic books for fun.
