Hey Drew I am right there with you on Nick Wilson being a A (I also did not plan on getting it and did not pick up on DCBS but did at the shop and glad I did along with Days of Hate). Thank you for all of those episodes as it is a HUGE commitment to do and not miss and episode. I could never do that because of vacations, family events and unexpected events. When Bob left I was not sure if I was going to stick around but you hit the ground running. I will continue to follow you on Comics For Fun and Profit. See you around the forum and twitter.

I read the interview (below) and thought about the Injustice vs the Masters of the Universe discussion from episode 571. I considered picking up this issue but felt conflicted about it being new reader friendly. I think this may be a wait for trade series.

Also, I run hot and cold with Freddie Williams III's artwork. His artwork currently has a bulky Ed Mcguinness quality. I started to noticed this during the first Batman/TMNT crossover.

Hi all,

As a long time Fantastic Four fan, I'm pleased to see this title in publication again. My enjoyment of seeing Ben and Johnny in the pages of MTIO v2 #1 was somewhat soured by what I felt were really unnecessary retcons in issues 2 and 3, so i haven't really been keeping up. Thankfully, with this new #1 it seems to have not mattered at all.

A few comments on some of the key points you made during your review...

1) The flare gun that forms the words "The Fantastic Four" was used in the first issue circa 1961. The scene shows Reed firing the gun, while he prays he'll never have to use it again. The people seeing the words are frightened, and the general sense of panic is only heightened by the first public appearances of the Thing, the Invisible Girl, and the Human Torch. I found the use of it in this issue to be a nice callback.

2) The changes in Victor Von Doom - from what I understand, his transformation from "the Infamous Iron Man" occurred in Bendis' last issue of the Invincible Iron Man - issue 600 if memory serves.

3) The timing of the release of this issue. From what I understand, the reason they didn't hold up the issue to align better with the MTIO storyline was because August 8th marked the 57th anniversary of the release of FF #1, and they wanted to keep that milestone release date regardless of what it meant to continuity.

I has been forever since I read a reprint of Fantastic Four #1. I had thought it formed justthe number 4, not the words "The Fantastic Four." I had forgotten that it doubles as the title on the first page of the story. MY bad.

That may be the case. Either way, Victor is in his Infamous Iron Man look in the current Marvel Two-in-One series.

Which is still annoying but makes a certain amount of sense. Shame they didn't speed up the release of Marvel Two-in-One so they could hit the date and have the stories come out in the correct order.
