DCBS Monthly Shipments

Post by jrphoenix »

Hey CBP members. I have been using DCBS for about 3 years now. I originally received my monthly shipments on the last weekend in the month. DCBS sent out a letter about a year ago asking people to voluntarily switch shipping weeks, I think they were getting back logged. I switched to week 1 so, I receive my previews about a week after everyone else.

For the last 3 or 4 months DCBS has been shipping my monthly order on Thursday's so that I don't receive my shipment in Florida until Tuesday the following week. for over 2 1/2 years they had always shipped out my orders on Wednesday and they arrived on Tuesday. Has anyone else noticed a delay in monthly shipments?

Is DCBS getting overwhelmed with clients?
Are they having staffing issues and focusing on weekly orders assuming people that wait a month can wait a little longer?
Are they just trying to encourage monthly shippers to move to bi-weekly or weekly?

I am a monthly customer as well and I was receiving my boxes on the fourth week and still do. I would agree that as of late my shipments are arriving later. They used to arrive on Saturday following the last Wednesday of the month, but now they are arriving as late as the following Tuesday or Wednesday. I think it's been a combination of DCBS getting overwhelmed with new orders and FedEx being busier. I have no idea. If it is frustrating, in a first-world-problems sort of way.

Chalk me up as another who gets once a month shipping and now receives their box on the following Wednesday. They didn't ship it until Monday after the last Weds. At one point not too long ago, I was getting my box the same Friday after the last Weds. I could take getting it on Saturday. Getting it five days later is a little frustrating. The more people that write them emails and maybe we'll get back to getting our shipments sooner. No idea what the issue is but I hope it's temporary. I agree though with bralinator, to keep it in perspective it's still "first world problems."

Agree... not a big deal, just wondered if it was an effort to push us to most frequent shipping? It does hit me with the monthly previews episodes. I just like going through the old fashioned catalog before recording my recommendations. I guess I'll just have to put in a little more work with the electronic solicits. I like previews world but, finding the page numbers is a hassle.

I'll email DCBS and try to see what's going on :)

My monthly comics budget doesn't allow for the additional $25 in shipping fees that going weekly would cost. This is why I stopped ordering Preciews and just use the online PDF of the catalog from Alternative Worlds that I've posted on the Previews threads in the past.

That's what I'm thinking too. I know you switched from DCBS recently, I think?

Please do. I'm very interested in checking out Kowabunga with their mail order. Do they offer a decent discount?

I've been a DCBS customer since 2009. My comics ship on the first Wednesday of the month and they routinely arrive on the following Saturday. My experience with emails has been positive, they usually respond within two or three days, which works okay for me. I've been happy with their service so I'll stick with them.

I get mine on the 3rd & shipping seems to be consistently showing up on Friday. But sometimes they pack that 3rd week & other times I have to wait 'til the next month, which is pretty annoying. I am lucky enough to have three great stores with in 15 minutes of my house so I pick up my Batman's / Spider-Man's weekly and let the Shirtless Bear Fighter's / Doom Patrol's of the world show-up whenever they get here.

I was a customer for a short time, but my experience from the west coast was it took a full week to get my books. I would get my shipment either the following Tuesday or Wednesday. Also there were delivery mistakes made and the two emails I sent went unanswered. One of the many reasons I wasn't a customer long and wouldn't consider returning.
