Has this series been any good? I bought the 1st trade, which was written by Willingham/drawn by Jiminez - and it was decent. But I see the 2nd trade (issues 8-14 w/Rapunzel) is by Lauren Beukes & Inaki Miranda? I fon't know either of them. Good story? Good art? Are they the regulars on the book? Or just for this arc?

Re: Fairest
We'll be covering Fairest #14 on Weekly Comics Spotlight #295 which will be released tomorrow (so I'd best started editing it...).
It would great issue for you to sample to see if you like the series.

That was the Rapunzel arc, right? I liked it but didn't love it. I it was too slow and drawn out. Bob and I discuss that some in the Weekly Comics Spotlight that goes up tomorrow.ctowner1 wrote:JohnMayo wrote:We'll be covering Fairest #14 on Weekly Comics Spotlight #295 which will be released tomorrow (so I'd best started editing it...).

Re: Fairest
I really enjoyed the Hidden Kingdom arc. You are right, Rapunzel is the protagonist for this arc and you learn quite a bit about her, including details regarding her past and how her hair works. Beukes has crafted an enjoyable story but there were times I had to re-read sections to follow what was going on. I credit this to her inexperience in writing in the sequential form more than a lack of storytelling skill.
I really was loving the art. Inaki Miranda does some great line work and doesn't skimp on the backgrounds. I hope they use him again as the main artist (I think he inks issue 14 by Barry Kitson).
I'd give the arc 4 stars overall.

I second that. The art by Inaki Miranda was really beautiful. still buying it but i did tire of the rapunzel arc after 3 or 4 issues. Story just didn't seem to go anywhere for a bit.Gilgabob wrote:

I think if you buy the 2nd trade it will be great. The art is fantastic and the story .... I could tell the story was probably really good but I couldn't remember the story month to month. I read a lot of books so I tend to not blame a writer for that automatically, but if others feel the same way then maybe it is partly her fault. So buying the trade you eliminate that problem and you'll probably get the story a lot better.
I think if you enjoyed the first arc you would enjoy the 2nd arc just fine.

I enjoyed the first trade quite a bit. I stopped getting the singles after the DCBS Vertigo sale dropped off. I thought the first trade read very well and decided to pick up this series in trade much like Fables. My wife likes these two titles and she hates singles so this is a good one for me to by in trade. I don't normally go the trade route but do with Walking Dead, Fables and Fairest.
