WCS #187
Another great podcast guys.
I was hoping the GA issue would be rated a lot higher by you guys and it would entice me to give it a try. Not that I shouldn't give it a shot just because you guys didn't rave about it, but you guys did a good job describing why I would probably feel the same and I am not trying to add comics that are just "okay". Again, not blaming you for me decided not to try it.
As for the FEARLESS DEFENDERS art, I totally agree with Bob. The art here, while not horrible, just did not hit me as enjoyable. Not to my eye.
Also want to note, and not related to the podcast, that the Mark Brooks cover of issue 2 from this series Seen HERE is perhaps the best cover I have seen in years.
For the Aspen book, I can't comment on the book as I didn't read it, but man I enjoyed your discussion about it. Though I am left wondering what the digital censor was about when Bob was describing the girl. I must also say that where the Green Arrow review did nothing to make me want to try it, the discussion on this Aspen book has made me at least curious about a book I had no desire to even think about.

That is a cool cover.Perry wrote: Also want to note, and not related to the podcast, that the Mark Brooks cover of issue 2 from this series Seen HERE is perhaps the best cover I have seen in years.
For $1 it's definitely worth trying. A lot of my disappointment was a mismatch of what I was expecting to get in the 1st issue & what I actually got. It wasn't a bad comic, though there were clearly things that I had issues with. After giving John a hard time on Invincible 100, I couldn't really give this one a higher grade than I did.Perry wrote: For the Aspen book, I can't comment on the book as I didn't read it, but man I enjoyed your discussion about it. I thought the Legend of the Shadow Clan was pretty good. I can see what Bob's talking about but at the same time I didn't need to see more and I have a lot of questions to make me pick up #2. So one person says not enough payoff and another says that's the reason I'm excited for #2. I guess it depends on how much you liked the setup to begin with

Thanks for this! It illustrates that just because I had some big issues with pacing, that was me personally, and others (like you & John) got a lot out of the issue.abysslord wrote:I thought the Legend of the Shadow Clan was pretty good. It's those darned expectations.....the most insidious force for comics dissatisfaction when you have them & they're not met.
Re: Weekly Comics Spotlight Discussion
I agree about the art in Fearless Defenders but I have the luxury that you gents do not, namely I put the book done and will revisit it in a few days. A smaller pool of regular books allows me more time to fool around with re-reads. Of course I also have piles of unread comics that I need to get to as well. Can't have one without the other...
Like Bob, I could not put my finger on what wasn't working for me. It is usually much easier for me if I can identify what I don't like but this ambiguity warrants another look.
Also loved how you guys teased the next podcast. I would listen anyway but was very curious to hear the rest of that conversation. Keep up the good work. Thanks.
