Big drop in DC this month as Before Watchmen ends at the same time as I drop some titles I'm not enjoying any more (Flash & Batwoman) and some other series end. Also, I'm now getting so few Vertigo books that it no longer makes sense to break out Vertigo separately, I'm just going to merge it in with my DC total. That said, I'm creeping up again on my Marvel total & had a big Indie uptick this month, so the DC drop was more than offset by that.

DC: 22 (down 10 from last month)
Marvel: 13 (up 2 from last month)

Bob, I am not sure, but isn't AGE OF ULTRON coming out with three issues the first month? Or are you just getting the one issue?

All 3 are coming out. I am only pre-ordering #1, we'll talk about it on the show & I'll decide if I want to get any issues past #1.

The way Marvel is going for me lately I really don't want to order the entire 10 issue series before I read #1.

Are you planning to skip it?

Yeah. Skipping it. Love Bendis on 'solo' books (Alias, Moon Knight, etc) but not a huge fan of his team stuff. He gets some voices pegged, but then others just sound like ... the same.

Probably more of a 'me' issue than not. :D

I have been skipping "events" now for awhile. I think 10 issues is too much and my experience has been that these long events tend to contain a lot of filler and could and SHOULD be around 4 or 5 issues long.

Question about the Marvel Previews pages six and seven. What is the deal with "FANTASTIC FOUR #5AU" and "SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #6AU"?

I am aware that the "AU" in each title is Age of Ultron, or I presume, but is the F4 and the Spidey issues part 5 and 6 of the story? I don't think so as they would by-pass part 4 (as only the first three issues of AoU are coming out in March).

They also don't seem to be the regular issues of said titles either as page 34 of Marvel Previews clearly shows us F4 issue #5, with a Rome plot, and page 47 shows us that issue #5 & #6 of SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN continuing its regularly scheduled, non-Ultron related plot.

Is Marvel once again trying to show us how easily they can confuse us readers? Did I miss their, or any posters here, reasoning behind this?

It just means that FF #5 is part of the "Age of Ultron" event. No indication that it's a particular story chapter, just that it will involve bits of the AU story. Sometimes this story connection is meaningful, sometimes meaningless. I tend to not buy a book I wasn't getting previously just because of a tie-in to an event like this.

But they have a FANTASTIC FOUR #5, further in Previews, that is NOT part of the event. That is what I'm saying. And if it is just a F4 tie-in issue, why not just call it FANTASTIC FOUR AU and eliminate confusion with the other issue #5?

That's really weird. I hadn't noticed that (since I dropped F4 & Spider-Man).

Looks like it's a new Marvel numbering scheme (like point 1) to sell an extra issue in a given month that's tied into a crossover.

Maybe there's going to be some alternate timeline thing where Ultron runs the world (like House of M) and these issues are set in that reality.

Yeah, could be. I just find it infuriating. Why make it hard on the people buying your product, to discern the product they want to buy? I could have easily added this F4AU #5 to my pull, thinking it was my regularly scheduled issue of F4 #5, and then by-passed the true issue #5 all together.

I mean, why number an issue "#5" ( making it presumably part of a series), when it is not involved in said series?

Stuff like this is why my inner Marvel Zombie has been slowly regaining self-awareness and walking further and further away from the company I once loved. But hey, if they want their readers to go from 25 or so titles a month to 6 or 7, they are certainly accomplishing their goal.

My list (as of now). Staying below my goal of 20.

DC
BATMAN #18

Marvel
NEW AVENGERS #4
AVENGERS #7
AVENGERS #8
SECRET AVENGERS #2
THOR GOD OF THUNDER #6
HAWKEYE #9 (Best book on the market)
FANTASTIC FOUR #5 (Not the UA subterfuge issue :x)
DAREDEVIL #24 (Maybe my last issue. Not liking how Waid is writing the Matt and Foggy interactions)

Other
SAGA #11
RACHEL RISING #15
ARCHER & ARMSTRONG #8
BLOODSHOT #9
HARBINGER #10
X-O MANOWAR #11
SHADOWMAN #5 (There is no UA option here) :D

DROPS
INDESTRUCTIBLE HULK - Just can't take the art. I tried. Can't. [/u]

THINKING ABOUT ADDING
BATMAN and ROBIN #18 - I really liked this series early, and honestly can't remember why I stopped getting it. Tomasi was doing some good stuff here. I do know I am not a fan of how Gleason draws faces, especially the mouth, but I wouldn't have dropped it just for that. I hope
