This is the place to discuss the episodes of the Comic Book Page podcast, the Comic Book Page website or pretty much anything else of interest to the Comic Book Page community...

Brubaker explained that for now, Bucky Barnes AKA the Winter Soldier will be functioning more outside the confines of the event as his own solo series gets rolling.
I'm glad for this, Brubaker seems to be pretty good at keeping his books away from big events.
That said, I'm going to drop any Marvel book that gets sucked into the event, so Avengers Academy & probably Captain America will be going away from my pull list some time in 2012. Thunderbolts, too, if they get pulled in.

This is what I get for trying to help. As I said I only included what was obvious from the interview. You can actually cross Winter Soldier off the list. From the news conference:
Your workings are much appreciated Dan, and no offence was meant.
I was only linking on extra the books that may also be tied in due to the writers involved.
I'm also wondering whether they'll introduce a new Nova series or have his involvement in the story with an AvX subtitle.

The cap issues that cross in tend to be very good. Cap #10 is one of my favorites of the run and a one-and-done story.
Brubaker tends to handle this stuff pretty well.
btw, who is the editor on that event? Is it Wacker?
I'll be getting this story for sure. I'm excited for this. From the return of the Phoenix Force to the mystery of why it's coming back, and who will be the new host. There's the return of Cable, the conflict between the two teams, Jeph Loeb and Mcguiness together again, and the conclusion of the Children Crusade. I even like the free digital copies.
But I will only get the main storyline issues, and not any other titles that this ties into that I'm not already getting, which is almost none since I dropped Avengers Academy during Fear Itself.
My main gripe about this is; The revolving creative teams. I'm I to believe that this is such a huge book that 1 writer can't handle the task of writing it? How does that saying go about too many chefs in the kitchen ruins the soup?
This event is going to be a big deal and will be talked about by every other podcast crew, comic news site one way or the other. So, yes, I would like to hear John talk about this. It's too bad that Bob has decided to skip pass this, it would be nice to have both John and Bob discuss this whole thing
"AvX" will feature far fewer tie-ins than we've done in the past. We're limiting them to ongoing books that directly tie into the Avengers and X-Men franchises, and we're being very conservative. We have one standalone tie-in series -- the high concept for which is completely brilliant -- and we'll be announcing it soon. The title says it all.
In our first summit workshopping this story, we were discussing the arrival of the Phoenix Force, and Nova was invoked for the first time. What if he were to encounter it in outer space as it hurtled toward Earth? From there, he became an organic part of the story. "AvX" will provide a nice launching pad for him in 2012. Other characters that play a big role include Hope and Wanda, Hawkeye, Iron Fist
While Luke Cage will be an integral part of "AvX," there won't be a "Thunderbolts" tie-in issue.
It's possible -- even likely -- that at least some of the FF will be involved in "AvX," particularly the Thing who, as you say, is an active Avenger. That said, there won't be any tie-ins in "FF." Like the title says, it's "Avengers vs. X-Men." While it's a Marvel Universe-spanning event, the two opposing sides are clear-cut: On one side, the Avengers; on the other, the X-Men. And there will be a winner.

It is good to hear that their will be less tie-ins, hopefully this will become a trend for both DC and Marvel.

This is kind of how I feel. Sure the X-men have fought the Avengers before, but this is the kind of thing that gets my inner 8 year old excited. And that is some of the reason why I like super hero books, For fun things like this.
God willing the execution will be better than Fear Itself.

But I am cursed with optimism!
I'm cursed with pessimism but I feel it has no choice than to be better than Fear Itself. Even with Marvel as a company upsetting me pretty regularly I can't help but be excited by the thought of the X-Men battling the Avengers.
What I've read indicates the X-Men are fighting to make sure Hope retains her human rights, while the Avengers want to kidnap her and press-gang her into service (you know, for 'the greater good'). It seems pretty clear to me that the X-Men is holding the moral high ground over the Avengers on this issue. Too bad due to extra-comical reasons (*cough* summer blockbuster *cough*) the Avengers will "win". When we all know they wouldn't really stand a chance against the X-Men
I'm actually excited about X-Men Vs. Avengers, 'cause the X-Men fan in me can't wait to see them beat on the Avengers. But after this:
"We've jokingly said about it internally that the tag on it is 'No Story, No Subtext,'" said Brevoort. "It's not 100% accurate, but it's maybe 99% accurate."
and this:
In terms of fight venues, Brevoort referenced fighting games where players can choose their characters and the stage. "We will have plenty of arenas from around the world to draw from," he said.
I think I'll wait for "Versus" to be collected, and probably skip it altogether.
