What Marvel books do you read?
What Marvel books do people read on a regular basis? This can include books you may have on pre-order but that have not come out yet. The list should include Icon, Crossgen, Soleil, Famous Authors, etc.
I used to get a LOT more & I've been cutting back on a lot of the $3.99 books (as people know from listening to the show) though I'm still getting a bunch.
It's funny because I still consider myself a Marvel fan 1st (they got me into comics) I'm just having a hard time coughing up $3.99 for many of the 22-page comics they put out. John gets WAY more Marvel than I do!!
Here's what I have left:
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN
ANNIHILATORS
ARCADE: DEATH GAME
AVENGERS
AVENGERS ACADEMY
BLACK PANTHER: MAN W/O FEAR
CAPTAIN AMERICA
CAPTAIN AMERICA: HAIL HYDRA
CARNAGE
DR STRANGE: FROM MARVEL VALUT
FANTASTIC FOUR / FF
HAWKEYE: BLIND SPOT
HEROES FOR HIRE
HULK
INCREDIBLE HULKS
INCOGNITO: BAD INFLUENCES (Icon)
INVINCIBLE IRON MAN
IRON MAN 2.0
IRON MAN LEGACY
KICK-(bleep) 2 (Icon)

I used to think the same thing until I went back and looked at purchases. Right now, I think the only Marvel books I regularly follow are Captain America and Fantastic Four. At one point I was getting every X title, every Avengers title, every Spider-Man book, plus all the ancillary minis.
I don't even think I'll follow this new event.

I don't get anything in single-issues from Marvel aside from the occasional mini or one-shot. Not that I don't like them, there just hasn't been anything to really grab me from them in some time.
What I *do* pick up from them:
- Random Marvel Premiere Hardcovers - I love their shiny foil dustjackets and if it's a series I really want in a nice format, you can't go wrong.
- Exiles
- She-Hulk
- Runaways
- Anything old-school Avengers (Kree-Skrull, Korvac, etc.)

These are pretty well done, but I've picked the first couple up in HC. I don't necessarily keep totally current on these, I'll buy them eventually, but there is no sense of urgency on my part to buy them right when they come out. In the past I've rushed to getting HCs like this, only to go to a Con 6 months later and finding someone selling them for $5.JC wrote:Stephen King series (Dark Tower, The Stand)

Marvel introduced to me to world of comic books way back in the day of 15 cents an issue (if only briefly).
I have dropped most of my pre-order Marvel titles because of $3.99 cover price:
PunisherMax (last issue will be #11) will be getting collected if the book lasts
Kick-(bleep) 2
Marvel Titles via subscription (much cheaper)
Amazing Spider-Man
Avengers
New Avengers
Secret Avengers
Hulk
Dare..err Black Panther: Man without Fear
Fantastic Four or Three or FF (Great Book)
Ultimate Avengers
Ultimate Spider-Man

1) How much do you pay for a subscription (total price for how many issues)?HipHopHead wrote: Marvel Titles via subscription (much cheaper)
2) How securely do they mail the comics & what kind of condition do they typically arrive in? (are they in envelopes, a box, does each one come separately or do you sometimes get multiple titles in the same package....)
3) When do you generally get the issue vs. when it goes on sale at the comic shop?

Did you get notified of the change by Marvel? did you have the opportunity to switch title if you wanted?HipHopHead wrote: Marvel Titles via subscription (much cheaper)

I wonder if subscribers of Thor will be moved onto Journey into Mystery or Mighty Thor.... I suspect the former.
