We're driving down Friday, so I may be able to be there in the afternoon. Can do dinner one of the nights. I have no idea what I will hit, but Kevin Maguire would be at the top of the list. Michael Golden, Stephan Roux and Carlos Barberi are also of interest to me. I have to say that Homeslice Pizza...

I picked up Justice League #1 on Thursday and had some time to digest it. It's certainly competently done, which you would expect from Johns and Lee, but I really wanted this issue to rock my world, and it didn't. Not by a long shot. If this is the first issue of the much-hyped relaunch, I'm not too...

Now that I have a regular job again, I think I will try the DCBS deal on all issues. Paging through Previews, I'm excited about most of the creative teams.

I'm still neutral on the renumbering, but I have to say without it I doubt I would be buying 50+ DC issues in a month.

Transformers 3 Movie

Pretty much more of the same, so I loved it. Even if the movie had zero plot, I'd like it for the vehicles, explosions and giant robots fighting. Seeing the first 30-seconds of the new girlfriend on a five-story Imax screen didn't hurt either. I did miss iconic planes like the B1 and the Blackbird, ...

I loved pretty much everything he did, and I can't believe how he maintained such a high level of artistic quality for so long until recently, when I presume he was just physically unable to draw. We've lost a few greats recently, but this one is particularly hard for me to accept. By all accounts h...

Green Lantern Movie

Saw it today and generally thought it was serviceable big-screen summer movie fare, and I'm glad I saw it in the theater. Saw it in 2D, and it looked fine to me. Stick around during the credits for a short bonus scene. I don't know how much of a hand Geoff Johns had in the production, but I did not ...

I think if you buy a $2.99 physical comic, you should be able to download a copy for free.

They often do this with vinyl.

There's no way I'd buy a digital comic for more than what DCBS sells the physical for, not to mention the dollar bins at cons that hold tons of near-current comics.

The nitpicks don't bother me except that they took me out of the movie a few times. I mostly point them out to have a bit of fun, but I'll talk about what I liked. Above all, I liked the acting of Prof X and Magneto. I think that made the movie for me. The guy who played Hank I found very charismati...

I'm not even sure what the XMen comic continuity is. Mostly wondered about the age of one character and how another was raised for about ten years. Also liked the movie's version of "covert" and how the baddies have a really good sense of balance in one of the final scenes. I'm not the kin...

X-Men: First Class movie

Saw it tonight with a friend. It was ok with several good moments, but I wasn't bowled over. There were a few "wha?" moments that took me out of the movie, so I definitely think it could have used some polish. But nothing that would stop me from recommending the movie to anyone. Mostly not...

How well did the DCU reboot of the 80s do after Crisis? Can't really hope for more than that. The more I think about it, the more interesting the idea is. There is both a creative reboot and a media reboot. I guess what it really boils down to is if they can find compelling stories to tell and if th...

This is big news, but I don't think I have been excited by a numbering change in 20 years. I'm not a digital comics reader, but I can see how digital comics is a big deal. Might even get me to covert if they do it right, but I would prefer that they included a free digital copy with pre-ordered books.
