Re: Goodbye Legacy, hello ‘Fresh Start’!

Marvel have clarified the initial press release and confirmed that each issue will feature dual numbering. So Avengers #1 will also be Avengers #691. I seem to recall they did this back in the early 2000s for a while. Personally I prefer this to the Legacy numbers disappearing completely....but I ex...

Re: Pull List - Whatchya Readin This Week?

I’m still being super selective in what I pick up.

Aquaman 33 (Middleton cover)
Batman 41
Batman & Wonder Woman 1
Evolution 4
Moonshine 7
Daredevil 599
Defenders 10
Punisher Platoon 6

Goodbye Legacy, hello ‘Fresh Start’!

It seems like Marvel’s up to their usual tricks and will be relaunching a number of titles with new number 1s......so much for Legacy numbering! While Marvel throwing a 180 comes as no huge surprise I am amazed it is so soon after the much hyped Legacy launch. Funny how so many big numbered annivers...

Re: Next Spider-Man writer

According to Bleeding Cool the new creative team will be Nick Spencer and Ryan Ottley (of Invincible).

I can see that art style meshing for Spider-Man but I have to say it isn’t a creative team that excites me. I will give them a few issues to grab me though.

Re: Next Spider-Man writer

Hey Drew Jason Aaron would be interesting. He’s a great writer but I can’t think of anything he’s written with a similar tone to Spider-Man. Would be cool to see though. Mark Waid would be a bit too safe I think and his Avengers work has been a bit lacklustre in my view. I’d say Max Bemis and Kelly ...

Next Spider-Man writer

With Dan Slott soon to leave Amazing Spider-Man after nearly 200 issues I wondered who you would all like to take over as writer. My personal choice would be Donny Cates. Unfortunately I think he would need to drop a title to make space as he already writes Redneck, Babyteeth, Thanos and Doctor Stra...

Re: Pull List - Whatchya Readin This Week?

Similar to Nacho this was a pretty light week for me. I picked up;

Image
Black Monday Murders #8
Kick A$$ #1
Kill Or Be Killed #16
Lazarus X Plus 66 #6
Port Of Earth #4

Marvel
Punisher #221

Aftershock
Babyteeth #8

Re: Mister Miracle.....what do you all think?

Hey Drew. I pretty much agree with your ranking of King’s work but think I’d switch Sheriff ahead of Batman. I think he’s hit his stride on Batman now but I also think the I Am Gotham and I Am Suicide stuff was weaker. Due to this I’d put it just below Sheriff as I thought it was strong throughout.

Mister Miracle.....what do you all think?

After 6 issues I’m finally giving up on Tom King’s Mister Miracle. This is a title that I really wanted to like. I enjoy most books Tom King writes and am a fan of Mitch Gerads art. I think they were great together on Sheriff Of Babylon, but I just cannot get into this story and can’t see why it is ...

Re: Marvel overhaul...what would you do?

How would you cover the increased cost for the 10 additional pages on the $3.99 comics? Same question on the 40 page comics at $4.99. Hi John. To start with I think Marvel (in particular) comics are more expensive than they ought to be. DC can manage to produce 20 page comics for $2.99, and the lik...

Marvel overhaul...what would you do?

Listening to the Mayo Reports it's clear that Marvel are experiencing a gradual sales slump, with numbers being propped up by gimmicks, combined with a general air of reader apathy. I've been thinking what I'd do in the imaginary world where I was given the task of overseeing a complete radical over...
